Matilde 17.-25.08.2007 / Andrejsala, Riga, Latvia
It is only since spring 2006 that Andrejsala has developed itself from abandoned former harbour area into a urban cultural platform for many differently working cultural projects. For the contemporary cultural Riga a seldom opportunity to establish cultural discourse for wider public. For each participant a temporarily provided chance to bruit personal opinions, work on cultural significances and be present in Rigas public life.
›Showroom 6: Matilde‹ uses the occasion and is for one week part of the ›cultural platform Andrejsala‹. In collaboration with Singalong – the art in residency on Andrejsala, Showroom invites different art projects and organisations from Switzerland, Germany, Austria and The Netherlands to participate a group exhibition. The precise look on the aesthetical aspects of Andrejsala implied the elaboration of site specific installations, video works and performances as well as critical examination on Andrejsalas potentials and future actions.
Another important part of ›Showroom 6: Matilde‹ is the ›On-Air - Art Radio from Riga‹ compiled from ›The Fucking good art magazine‹ from Rotterdam. On-Air is a portal for podcasting conversations on art, interviews, radio walks, kitchen talks, audio works and conceptual radio projects. All sound files can be fetched on www.fuckinggoodart.nl
›Showroom 6: Matilde‹ provided also a closer look into Swiss and Austrian video art scene composed from ›Amberg & Marti‹ from Zürich and ›Auto‹ from Vienna.
